SIWES for Accounting, Banking, Economics & Business Students
Accounting, finance, economics and business students can do SIWES on the data and digital side of business: building financial reports and dashboards in Excel and Power BI, analysing sales, and helping small businesses sell and keep records online. These are the skills that separate business graduates in today's job market.

Why tech work counts as industrial training for your course
Every accounting, finance and management role now runs on spreadsheets, dashboards and digital tools. A placement where you reconcile records, build a cash flow or sales report, analyse margins and present the result to a business owner applies your coursework in financial accounting, cost accounting, economics and management to real numbers.
Check with your SIWES coordinator first
Be careful here. Some accounting and banking departments insist on an audit firm, bank or accounting department, and will not accept a tech host. Others accept any host where you do financial or business analysis. Ask your coordinator before you apply, and show the project list below so they can see the work is financial and analytical.
What you would actually do
Real work for real clients, reviewed by a mentor every week. Each project runs inside one of our departments.
Financial and sales reporting in Excel
Turn a small business's daily sales and expense records into monthly income statements, cash flow summaries and margin reports.
Data Science & Analytics departmentBusiness dashboard
Build a Power BI or Looker Studio dashboard showing revenue, costs, stock and debtors that the owner can check every week.
Data Science & Analytics departmentDigital sales for a small business
Set up a WhatsApp Business catalogue, Google Business Profile and a simple ad campaign, then measure the enquiries and sales that come from them.
Social Media & Digital Marketing departmentAI tools for business admin
Use AI tools to draft invoices, summarise reports and answer routine customer questions, with a clear record of what was automated and what was checked by a person.
Basic Internet & AI Studies departmentWhat your logbook could say
Weak entries describe attendance. Strong entries describe work your supervisor can sign honestly. These are examples of the kind of entry this placement produces.
More on this in our guide to SIWES logbook mistakes and how to fix them.
Skills and tools you leave with
On site or online, and what each costs
On site at a Tech Faculty centre
No separate placement fee. On Learn & Pay you pay your department's regular course fee, from ₦50,000, with up to 50% off for SIWES students. On Tutor & Earn, if you are already skilled enough to teach, we pay you.
Find a centre near youOnline with Virtual SIWES
₦45,000 for your full IT, plus ₦15,000 for logbook signing, stamping and two-way courier delivery. Virtual SIWES is charged because it covers online supervision and the waybill.
Most of this work is done on a laptop with records the business shares, so Virtual SIWES works for these courses. Confirm with your department first, because accounting and banking departments are the most likely to require a specific kind of host.
Do your SIWES online, from any city in Nigeria
No host near you, or your placement fell through? Tech Faculty NG, licensed by FMSTI through NBTI, places you online for your full IT and documents it exactly like an on-site intern.
- Official placement letter addressed to your school within 48 hours of payment
- Weekly live sessions and real project work with a mentor from your department
- Logbook reviewed, signed and stamped, with courier pickup and return to your city
- Completion certificate, recommendation letter and a project portfolio link
₦45,000 for the placement, whether your IT is three or six months. ₦15,000 for logbook review, signing, stamping and two-way waybill delivery.
Near one of our campuses? On-site SIWES has no placement fee. Only Virtual SIWES is charged, because it covers the waybill and online supervision.
Or reserve now and pay by transfer
Leave your details and a coordinator replies with payment details and your start date. Nothing is charged automatically.
Accounting, Business & Economics SIWES questions
Can accounting students do SIWES at a tech company?
Sometimes. Some accounting departments require an audit firm, bank or accounting office, while others accept any host where you do supervised financial work. Ask your SIWES coordinator first, and show them that the placement involves financial reporting and analysis.
What will a business or economics student do during SIWES at Tech Faculty NG?
Financial and sales reporting in Excel, business dashboards in Power BI or Looker Studio, digital sales set-up for small businesses, and AI tools for routine admin. The work uses real business records and is reviewed by a mentor every week.
Will Excel and Power BI help me get a job?
Yes. Excel is expected in almost every accounting, banking and business role, and Power BI or similar dashboard skills are increasingly listed in finance and analyst job adverts in Nigeria.
Is this placement acceptable for banking and finance students?
It depends on your department. Financial analysis and reporting is relevant, but some banking and finance departments want a bank or financial institution. Confirm before you apply.
