Cybersecurity Salary in Nigeria 2026: SOC, Pentest & GRC Pay Bands

Cybersecurity pays well in Nigeria — but "cybersecurity" is not one job. It's at least six different careers with very different pay. Here are the real 2026 bands from Nigerian banks, fintechs, telcos, and consultancies, cross-checked with our Tech Faculty alumni placements.

The three roles that hire most in Nigeria

1. SOC Analyst (Security Operations Centre)

You watch alerts, triage incidents, escalate real threats. Every Nigerian bank and fintech runs a SOC — often 24/7.

• Junior SOC (Tier 1): ₦350k–₦700k/month
• Mid SOC (Tier 2): ₦900k–₦1.6M/month
• SOC Lead / Tier 3: ₦2M–₦3.5M/month
• Remote SOC (US/EU MSSPs hiring Nigerians): $2,500–$6,000/month

Tools: Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, Elastic Security. Splunk is the highest-paying skill in Nigerian SOCs.

2. Penetration Tester / Offensive Security

You break into systems (legally) and write reports. Rare and highly paid in Nigeria.

• Junior pentester: ₦600k–₦1.2M/month (uncommon — most start as SOC and pivot)
• Mid pentester: ₦1.5M–₦2.8M/month
• Senior / red team: ₦3M–₦6M/month
• Freelance / bug bounty: highly variable — top Nigerians make $80k–$200k/yr on HackerOne

Certs that move the needle in Nigeria: OSCP (biggest single salary bump), CRTP, Burp Suite Certified Practitioner. CEH is required for government/NITDA contracts but respected less by fintechs.

3. GRC / Compliance Officer

You handle NDPR, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, CBN cybersecurity framework. Boring to some, gold to others.

• Junior GRC: ₦500k–₦900k/month
• Mid GRC (NDPR-fluent): ₦1.2M–₦2.5M/month
• Senior / Head of Compliance: ₦3M–₦8M/month + bonus

GRC salaries jumped hard in Nigeria after NDPR enforcement intensified in 2024–2025. Every fintech with more than 50 staff now needs at least one.

Other paths worth naming

• Application security engineer — ₦1.5M–₦4M/month. Rare in Nigeria; usually remote.
• Cloud security (AWS/Azure): ₦1.8M–₦4.5M/month. Fastest-growing niche in 2026.
• Identity & access (IAM): ₦1M–₦2.5M/month. Undervalued, easy to enter.

What actually gets you hired

Nigerian cybersecurity hiring managers we placed talent with in 2026 asked for, in order:

1. A home lab / TryHackMe or HackTheBox profile with real progress
2. Working knowledge of Linux command line
3. Basic scripting (Python or PowerShell)
4. One recognized certification (Security+, or the role-specific one above)
5. Ability to write a clean incident report or pentest report

Nigerian-specific advantage

NDPR (Nigeria Data Protection Regulation) + the new CBN cybersecurity framework mean local compliance knowledge is a moat. A GRC officer who genuinely understands NITDA and CBN rules cannot be replaced by an offshore hire — that's why GRC pay is spiking.
