Tech Salaries in Nigeria 2026: Junior, Mid, and Senior Pay Benchmarks
Tech Salaries in Nigeria 2026: Junior, Mid, and Senior Pay Benchmarks
By Bill Achusim · Apr 8, 2026
How much should a tech professional actually earn in Nigeria in 2026? There's a lot of guesswork on social media — usually inflated for clout or deflated for clickbait. Here are the realistic bands we see in actual hiring data and offers across web development, data, cyber security, product, and design.
All figures are gross monthly, in naira, for Nigeria-based roles unless noted. Remote USD-paid roles are listed separately.
How to read these numbers
- Junior = 0–1 year of professional experience
- Mid = 2–4 years
- Senior = 5+ years, leading components and mentoring
- Ranges reflect base pay, not total compensation. Add 10–30% for bonuses and benefits at established companies.
- City matters: Lagos pays the most, Abuja and Port Harcourt are close, the rest of the country usually 20–30% below Lagos for the same role.
Software / web development
- Junior: ₦300,000 – ₦600,000
- Mid: ₦700,000 – ₦1,500,000
- Senior: ₦1,800,000 – ₦4,000,000
- Tech lead / staff: ₦4,500,000+
Remote (USD-paid) typical bands:
- Junior: $1,200 – $2,500/month
- Mid: $3,000 – $5,500
- Senior: $6,000 – $11,000+
Mobile development (iOS / Android / React Native)
Roughly 5–15% above web full-stack at each level. Native iOS in particular is in short supply in Nigeria.
Data analytics
- Junior analyst: ₦350,000 – ₦700,000
- Mid analyst: ₦800,000 – ₦1,800,000
- Senior / lead analyst: ₦2,000,000 – ₦4,000,000
Data engineering and data science
Generally 15–25% above analytics at the same level. Senior data engineers in Nigerian fintechs routinely cross ₦4,500,000.
Cyber security
- Junior SOC analyst: ₦450,000 – ₦900,000
- Mid security engineer / pentester: ₦1,000,000 – ₦2,500,000
- Senior / lead: ₦3,000,000 – ₦6,000,000+
Cyber is one of the highest-paid junior tech bands in Nigeria right now.
Product design / UX
- Junior: ₦300,000 – ₦600,000
- Mid: ₦700,000 – ₦1,500,000
- Senior: ₦1,800,000 – ₦3,500,000
- Remote USD: $1,500 – $9,000 across the same bands
Product management
- APM / junior PM: ₦600,000 – ₦1,200,000
- Mid PM: ₦1,500,000 – ₦3,000,000
- Senior PM / group PM: ₦3,500,000 – ₦7,000,000+
PM salaries skew high because few Nigerian PMs have 5+ years of real experience.
DevOps / SRE / cloud
- Junior: ₦500,000 – ₦900,000
- Mid: ₦1,200,000 – ₦2,500,000
- Senior: ₦3,000,000 – ₦6,000,000+
Strong AWS or Kubernetes skills plus production on-call experience are the biggest premium drivers.
QA / test automation
- Manual QA junior: ₦250,000 – ₦450,000
- Automation engineer (mid): ₦700,000 – ₦1,500,000
- Senior SDET: ₦1,800,000 – ₦3,500,000
What drives pay above the band
Same role, same city — these are the legitimate reasons one offer is meaningfully higher than another:
- Industry: fintech > regular SaaS > agency > government
- Funding stage: Series B+ pays more in base, early-stage pays more in equity
- Real production experience — shipped features at scale beats certifications
- Communication skills — written and spoken English at a high standard, especially for remote
- Specialised tooling — Kubernetes, Rust, Solidity, Snowflake, OSCP
How to negotiate without burning the offer
A few rules that work in Nigerian tech hiring:
- Never give your number first. Ask for the band for the level.
- Anchor on the role, not your current pay. Past pay is the worst anchor a Nigerian junior can use.
- Negotiate total package. Health, learning budget, remote stipend, equity all count.
- Get the offer in writing before you resign anything.
- Be willing to walk — politely. Companies remember founders who behave well.
Where Tech Faculty NG fits
Whether you're aiming for a junior role in Lagos or a remote senior role paid in USD, the bands above show why deep, employer-aligned skills matter. Our bootcamps in Web Development, Data Analytics, Cyber Security, and AI are designed around exactly the hiring requirements behind these numbers — and we've helped 5,000+ students and graduates make the jump.
The bottom line
Tech pay in Nigeria is rising, but unevenly. The biggest premium in 2026 goes to people who can ship in production, communicate clearly, and pick high-demand sub-fields like data engineering, cyber, DevOps, and senior product. Pick your sub-field intentionally, build evidence employers can verify, and negotiate from the band — not from fear.
