Top Tech Hubs in Africa: Where to Learn Tech in 2026
Top Tech Hubs in Africa: Where to Learn Tech in 2026
Africa's technology story is usually told through funding rounds. For a student, the more useful story is geography: where the hubs are, what each city is actually strong at, and how to plug into it without needing a visa or a relocation budget.
This is a country-by-country guide to the continent's best-known hubs, written for someone deciding where and how to learn. The searchable version, filterable by city and course area, is our tech hubs directory.
As with our Nigerian guide, these hubs are independent organisations. We list them so learners can see the landscape; we do not speak for them. Tech Faculty's role is advisory and instructional — we help you choose, then we teach and certify, online or in person.
Nigeria — the largest talent pool
Nigeria has the continent's biggest developer population and the widest spread of training options.

Frequently asked questions
Which African city is best for learning tech in 2026?
There is no single answer, and that is the point. Lagos has the deepest hiring market, Nairobi the strongest community history, Kigali the most deliberate policy support, Johannesburg the most enterprise demand, Cairo the biggest graduate pipeline. The best city for you is usually the one you already live in, paired with a structured online track.
Can I join Tech Faculty from outside Nigeria?
Yes. Our online tracks are open across Africa and internationally, billed in USD for international students and naira for Nigeria.
Do African employers respect online certificates?
They respect verifiable ones attached to visible work. Any certificate you cannot check on a public page is weak evidence; a portfolio plus a verifiable certificate is strong.
Are these hubs free to join?
Policies vary by hub and change over time — membership, programme intake and fees are set by each organisation, so confirm directly with them. What we can tell you for certain are our own fees and schedules.
