The fastest-growing source of dollar income for Nigerian tech talent in 2026 is not traditional outsourcing. It is AI work: training, evaluating, annotating, red-teaming and building for the companies racing to improve frontier models. The work is remote, the screening is skills-based, and a Nigerian passport is not a barrier.
The categories of work
AI training and evaluation. You write, review or rank model responses in your area of expertise — code, law, medicine, finance, engineering. Pay is typically hourly and rises sharply with credentialed expertise.
Data annotation and quality. Labelling images, audio and text. Lower pay, lower barrier, good as a first step.
Red-teaming and safety. Deliberately probing models for failures. Pays well and rewards creativity plus domain knowledge.

Realistic expectations
